Recommended technology

To help Third Star Financial Services to enhance its operations, particularly it is data management operations: the two recommended technologies will be Teradata and Hadoop. Since Third Star has its operations located worldwide, it is important to adopt tools and technologies that will help the company support its entire business. These tools will benefit the company since they offer different features. Moreover, Hadoop is scalable, making it suitable for the business; it will fit the company since the data generated and the process continuously increases as new customers and employees are enrolled in the business. Teradata has a feature that allows the company to recall and analyze data in the most effective way (Shvachko et al., 2010). It offers flexibility in performance and offers faster analytical insights.

However, there are challenges associated with the use of these technologies. One of these challenges is the integration of data. It will take time to integrate all the data from various sources in one system. Another challenge will be acquiring the technologies, considering that Third star is currently under financial constraints.

Recommendation to improve the current state of data and information management

According to the Data Management Bok of knowledge, one of the recommendations in metadata management is putting data into context.  This has various advantages since it makes data easier to understand and use. Ensure that the location of data is safe and data can easily be located to save time. Data warehousing and business intelligence should be easy to locate since it saves time and effort. 

Combining technology and management recommendation to improve operations and services

Integrating technology and management will help to improve the overall operations through having stronger and improved data management systems. However, it is important to note that the two recommended technologies cover the needed improvements; additional technology strategies are unnecessary. Both Teradata and Hadoop cover the following area; data governance, quality of data, improves data warehousing and storage, and offers consolidation that eliminates duplication. However, management should be properly organized to help the whole system operate better through improved analytical decision-making.

Ethical considerations

Before making this decision, Third Star needs to consider some important things, such as security. This is because the company deals with customers’ data and information that should be accorded the required level of security. The company should ensure data confidentiality, including allowing access to the customers only, encryption during storage and transition. Moreover, data should be used for intended purposes only and should be stored for the period established for personal identifier information.
